Fady Joudah is also the author of [鈥: Poems (a finalist for the National Book Award), Footnotes in the Order of Disappearance, Textu, and Alight. His translation of Mahmoud Dawish鈥檚 The Butterfly鈥檚 Burden was a finalist for the 2008 PEN Award for Poetry in Translation, and his translation of Ghassan Zaqtan鈥檚 Like a Straw Bird It Follows Me won the 2013 International Griffin Poetry Prize. Joudam was also the winner of the 2024 Jackson Poetry Prize. Along with writing poetry, Joudah volunteers for Doctors Without Borders and serves as an emergency room physician.
