About the Speaker
Jehan-Fran莽ois P芒ris is Professor Emeritus of Computer Science at the University of Houston. He was formerly faculty at Purdue University and the University of California, San Diego. Dr. P芒ris received his Ing茅nieur Civil degree from the Universit茅 Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium, his Dipl么me d鈥橢tudes Approfondies from the Universit茅 de Paris VI, France, his Licence et Ma卯trise en Informatique from the Universit茅 de Namur, Belgium and his Ph. D. in EECS from the University of California, Berkeley. His past research interests have included program restructuring, the management of replicated data, video distribution protocols, file access prediction and disk failure prediction. His current research interests focus on storage system reliability.
He is a senior member of the ACM and the IEEE Computer Society.
