Abstract
In this talk, Dr. Stephen Huang will reflect on his four decades of service in the Computer Science Department at the University of Houston. He will discuss his current research, revisit key past projects, and offer insights for younger faculty. Dr. Huang will also explore the evolution of computing as a profession, highlighting trends in doctoral research over the past 30 years and the growth in computing degrees awarded over the last 60+ years.
About the Speaker
Dr. Stephen Huang earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981. He has been a faculty member at UH for over 40 years, currently serving as a full professor. His research focuses on cybersecurity, intrusion detection, and algorithms. Dr. Huang has held several leadership roles during his tenure, including Director of Graduate Studies, Associate Chair, Department Chair, and Associate Director of Research at the Center for Information Security Research and Education.
